Featured Mayor's Alliance Events

The Mayor's Alliance for NYC's Animals sponsors or co-sponsors several large annual events, all with the common mission of eliminating the euthanasia of healthy and treatable dogs and cats in New York City's animal shelters. These public events provide pet adoption, low-cost pay/neuter, low-cost microchipping, and/or other services, promote responsible pet ownership, and offer lots of opportunities for fun!

I Love NYC Pets Month (February)

Each February, in honor of Valentine's Day, the Mayor's Alliance for NYC's Animals proudly presents I Love NYC Pets Month to support its goals of increasing pet adoptions and spay/neuter rates and transforming New York City into a no-kill community. The month-long celebration features dozens of pet adoption events and other festivities to shine a spotlight on the NYC's homeless pets.

Adoptapalooza (Spring/Summer)

Join the Mayor's Alliance for NYC's Animals each spring/summer in Washington Square Park for Adoptapalooza! Meet wonderful cats and dogs for adoption, including pure breeds. This free public event also features activities and entertainment, raffles, training and agility demonstrations, advice on pet health care, training, and grooming, pet photographers, and other fun activities for the whole family — two- and four-legged alike!

Broadway Barks (July)

Broadway Barks is a free, star-studded dog and cat adoptathon benefiting New York City animal shelters and adoption agencies. The annual event, produced by Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, takes place the second Saturday in July in Shubert Alley with festivities and celebrity presentations of adoptable pets from citywide animal shelters.

Bark in the Park (August)

It's not every day you can take your dog to a ball game. But each summer, the Brooklyn Cyclones invite fans to bring their dogs to the annual Bark in the Park baseball game at MCU Park in Coney Island. Cyclones fans and their canine friends have the opportunity for an exciting "dog's day" of fun as the Cyclones take on another area team. Sponsored by the Mayor's Alliance for NYC's Animals and Maddie's Fund, the Pet Rescue Foundation, Bark in the Park features dog and cat adoptions from Alliance Participating Organizations, low-cost microchipping for dogs and cats, great photo ops for the kids with Maddie, the six-foot Miniature Schnauzer mascot from Maddie's Fund, and ballpark specials.

Fall Fix (October)

Held the first weekend in October in honor of New York Week for the Animals, Fall Fix offers free spay/neuter and microchipping for dogs and cats, pet adoptions, and a variety of information, entertainment, gifts, and family fun at the north end of Central Park.

Creatures' Ball (October)

What's better than a fangtastic Halloween party with costumes, great food, drinks, music, and dancing? Nothing — except dogs and cats...and you saving lives by simply buying tickets. Join us for this evening celebrating all of New York City's creatures and the lives saved by the Mayor's Alliance for NYC's Animals…and your support helps save dogs and cats still in need. Music, dancing, open bar, and sweet and savory treats.

Whiskers in Wonderland (December)

The Whiskers in Wonderland holiday pet adoption event, hosted at the Metropolitan Pavilion in December by the Mayor's Alliance for NYC's Animals and Best Friends Animal Society, features hundreds of cats, kittens, and rabbits just waiting to be welcomed into a new home. In return, these furry new friends will give the gift of unconditional love!
