Cool Cats Playing at Madison Square Garden!

New York, NY – Sunday, September 28, 2003 – Madison Square Garden will be the right place to look for love on Thursday, October 2, from noon to 9 p.m. when hundreds of the hippest cats in NYC will be available for interviews with prospective adopters. The cats, who currently reside at 17 local animal shelters, humane associations, and rescue groups, will be there as guests of the Cat Fanciers' Association, which is sponsoring the "Adopt a Cat Day" at Madison Square Garden along with the Mayor's Alliance for NYC's Animals.

The country's leading cat experts will be available to provide you with all the advice you need to make your cat purrfectly happy and healthy:

Dr. Jennifer McEvoy and Dr. Arnold Plotnick, veterinarians specializing in cat care, will be there to answer your questions and provide free advice.

Carole Wilbourn, cat therapist and author of The Total Cat: Understanding Your Cat's Physical and Emotional Behavior from Kitten to Old Age, will be signing her book and answering all your cat behavior questions in the evening.

•  

Julia Szabo, New York Post "Pets" columnist and author of Animal House Style, will be signing her book and answering your questions about apartment and house design for animals all day long.

•  

Anitra Frazier, holistic health and grooming expert and author of The New Natural Cat, will be signing her book and giving a talk in the evening.

•  

Howard Bedor, cat groomer extraordinaire, will be there all day doing grooming demos and answering all your grooming questions.

•  

Rosanne Aratoon, animal communicator, will be available all day to answer all questions you have for your cat and to help in conducting interviews to help you find your feline soul mate.

We have tiger cats, calico cats, tabby cats, tuxedo cats, and a few very special completely black cats, ready to match the wardrobe of the most fashionable New Yorker! What is your musical taste? In addition to a very cool new family member, adopters who start the adoption process at Madison Square Garden will receive one free ticket to Cats! Show New York. Kids (or adults) can have their faces painted as kitties, and a troupe of cat dancers will perform throughout the day.

The groups participating in the event include the Center for Animal Care and Control, the ASPCA, Animal Haven, BARC, City Critters, NYC Siamese, Place for Cats, Long Beach Humane Society, Kitty Caretakers of Queens, Feline Rescue of Staten Island, Animals Can't Talk, Tigger Foundation, Paws To Love, Cat Assistance and NYC Rescued Kitties, Liberty Animal Shelter, and the Humane Society of New York.
