Out of the Cage!
June 2010
This month we're happy to share with you some inspiring success stories about how good ideas can get great results. You'll read about how Pilots N Paws founders Debi Boies and Jon Wehrenberg let their imaginations soar and, as a result, created a unique and tremendously valuable resource that is saving the lives of homeless animals here in New York City and across the country. We hope you'll smile when you read about Anjellicle Cats Rescue's inventive adoption event earlier this month that resulted in strong adoptions and the recruitment of new foster families. And you'll hear from a guest writer whose honest and thoughtful article about Charlie the cat captures the foster experience in its many facets.
Looking ahead to next month, be sure to mark your calendar for Broadway Barks 12! on Saturday, July 10, from 3:30–6:30 p.m. in Manhattan's Shubert Alley. More than two dozen Mayor's Alliance participating shelters and rescue groups will join hosts Bernadette Peters and Mary Tyler Moore and an impressive roster of other Broadway and entertainment stars to create great adoptions and raise awareness about the plight of New York City's homeless cats and dogs. The event also raises much-needed funds for our Picasso Veterinary Fund, one of our most important initiatives that is saving lives of NYC's homeless animals. We again extend our thanks to Mary and Bernadette not only for founding the fund in 2003, but also for helping to keep it vibrant year after year.
Also, Bernadette will be signing copies of her second children's book, Stella Is a Star!, following Broadway Barks!, in the lobby of the Schoenfeld Theatre at 236 West 45th Street.
We hope to see you at Broadway Barks 12!
