Out of the Cage!

February 2010

Welcome back to Out of the Cage! Our newsletter has been on hiatus for a while, but we're back, and excited to bring you our first issue of 2010 just in time for "I Love NYC Pets" Month.

We hope you enjoy reading about the efforts and successes that are moving us closer to our goal: a New York City where no healthy or treatable cats or dogs are killed at our city shelters simply because they are homeless. The Mayor's Alliance and its 160-plus participating organizations (APOs) are poised to achieve that goal by 2015, the final year of our 10-year strategic plan.

As we embark upon Year Six of our plan, we want to acknowledge our supporters and participants who are propelling us forward: Maddie's Fund, The Pet Rescue Foundation, for its ongoing funding of our project; the ASPCA, a founding member of the Mayor's Alliance, for its financial support and generous contribution of resources to the New York City community; North Shore Animal League America for its continuing generosity in making its mobile adoption vans available to fellow APOs to host adoption events; and all of our APOs, volunteers, and supporters whose dedicated efforts each and every day move us closer to the prize. We offer a special thank you and congratulations to the thousands of adopters and foster families who have welcomed a Little New Yorker into their homes. You truly are saving lives...and we need more of you!

To you, our readers, we say "thank you" for sharing our concerns about the welfare of NYC's animals, and for all you do to improve their lives, and their future. We always enjoy hearing from you, so please feel free to contact us at enews@AnimalAllianceNYC.org.

Best wishes,

Jane Hoffman
