New York, NY – Monday March 19, 2012 – The Mayor’s Alliance for NYC’s Animals® will present a three-day pet adoption extravaganza — the ASPCA® Mega Match-a-Thon — on Manhattan’s Upper West Side from Friday, March 30, through Sunday, April 1. Adopters can meet their furry match each day at West 67th Street and Broadway, where cats and dogs awaiting forever homes will be waiting to steal their hearts.

The Mayor’s Alliance is the ASPCA’s New York City partner for the Mega Match-a-Thon, and is one of 55 animal rescue organizations sharing a $500,000 ASPCA grant to support large-scale adoption events held simultaneously in locations throughout the country.

Animal-loving New Yorkers are encouraged to come out and meet their match during the three-day event. Cats and dogs from several different Alliance Participating Organizations, including the ASPCA, Animal Care & Control of NYC (AC&C), Animal Haven, the Picasso Veterinary Fund of the Mayor’s Alliance, and Sean Casey Animal Rescue, will be housed on adoption vans parked curbside for the event.

The Mayor’s Alliance will offer a free collar and ID tag with every adopted pet. Pet food sampling and giveaways also will be available.

Adoption hours for ASPCA Mega Match-a-Thon are:

Friday, March 30
2:00–7:00 p.m.

Saturday, March 31
Noon–5:00 p.m.

Sunday, April 1

Mayor's Alliance for NYC's AnimalsAbout the Mayor’s Alliance for NYC’s Animals®
The Mayor’s Alliance for NYC’s Animals, Inc., founded in 2002 and powered by Maddie’s Fund, The Pet Rescue Foundation, with support from the ASPCA, is a coalition of more than 150 animal rescue groups and shelters working with Animal Care & Control of New York City (AC&C) to end the killing of healthy and treatable cats and dogs at AC&C shelters. To achieve that goal, the Alliance, a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation, helps its Alliance Participating Organizations (APOs) work to their highest potential to increase pet adoptions and spay/neuter rates, with the goal of transforming New York City into a no-kill community by 2015. www.AnimalAllianceNYC.org
