Social Commerce Company to Drive Awareness and Funds for NYC’s Animal Rescue Groups
New York, NY – Monday, December 12, 2011 – The Mayor’s Alliance for NYC’s Animals® and SocialPakt are teaming up to further the Alliance’s mission to end the killing of healthy and treatable cats and dogs at Animal Care & Control of NYC (AC&C) shelters. For the next three weeks, SocialPakt, a social commerce company that brings together socially conscious consumers and local artists in support of local causes, will feature a t-shirt designed by local artist, Liz Haywood, and inspired by the work of the Mayor’s Alliance and its coalition of more than 150 animal rescue groups and shelters throughout the city.
A portion of the proceeds of the partnership will go to support the programs and efforts of the Mayor’s Alliance. Each tee sold provides funds that will help the Mayor’s Alliance secure a home for an animal in need.
“To give New Yorkers an idea of just how much of a difference these donations make in the lives of homeless animals, each tee you buy can help save a life. That can mean providing funds to help keep our Wheels of Hope transport fleet moving animals from AC&C shelters to other rescue organizations or helping to pay for treatment for sick and injured animals through our Picasso Veterinary Fund,” said Jane Hoffman, president of the Mayor’s Alliance for NYC’s Animals. “Support from SocialPakt and caring consumers helps move the Mayor’s Alliance a step closer to reaching our goal of making New York City a no-kill city by 2015.”
Each week, SocialPakt partners with a local artist to create a unique design inspired by the work and mission of a local non-profit organization in New York City. With the vision of building an online community that generates funds and drives awareness for these entities, SocialPakt donates 30 percent of the proceeds from each t-shirt sold to the featured non-profit and promotes the organization’s mission through various traditional and social media channels.

The specially designed Mayor’s Alliance t-shirt will be available on www.SocialPakt.com throughout the month of December, and featured as part of the Mayor’s Alliance’s holiday pet adoption event, Whiskers in Wonderland. The design will also be featured on pet hoodies, available for purchase. The event, held December 17 & 18 at the Metropolitan Pavilion (125 West 18th Street) in Manhattan, involves 26 local animal rescue groups and shelters to help potential adopters make responsible choices and find the perfect pet to fit their lifestyle.
