New York City Cats and Dogs Go Online!
New York, NY Friday, November 7, 2003
On November 7, 2003, the Mayor's Alliance for NYC's Animals will
be joining New York Animal Care and Control in introducing New Yorkers
to some exciting new computer technology called Pet-Ark that will
revolutionize the marketing and placement of NYC cats and dogs in
shelters.
"New Yorkers will soon be able to search for
the right new 'four-footed family member' via our kiosks, which
I think of as 'adoption ATMs.'" said Jane Hoffman, President
of the Mayor's Alliance for NYC's Animals. "It is the cutting
edge way to bring pets to people." The kiosks have been placed
in the shelters and receiving centers of New
York City Animal Care and Control and at the ASPCA,
Animal Haven, BARC,
and the Humane
Society of New York. Plans are underway to place kiosks at locations
throughout the City in the very near future so that New Yorkers
can "meet" the great cats and dogs in animal shelters
who are waiting to go to a new home.
New York City Animal Care and Control is a member
of the Mayor's Alliance for NYC's Animals, a coalition of over 50
animal rescue groups and shelters, working with the City of New
York, to find a great home for every cat and dog in NYC who needs
one. To achieve that goal, the Mayor's Alliance, a 501(c)(3) not-for–profit
corporation, has formed a public-private partnership with the City
of New York to develop creative solutions to deal with issues of
animal care and control in New York City.
