Four Footed Kings of Queens in Cunningham Park!

New York, NY – Wednesday, August 6, 2003 – Cunningham Park in Queens will be the right place to look for love on Saturday, August 16th, from noon to 4 pm, when the exceptionally regal dogs and cats of Animal Haven host the latest in a series of major adoption events being held throughout the City.

Animal Haven is a non-profit organization that finds homes for abandoned cats and dogs throughout the Tri-State area, and provides lifetime care to animals that can't be placed. Founded in 1967, it operates a no-kill shelter in Queens, and an animal sanctuary and rehabilitation center (Animal Haven Acres) in Delaware County, New York, for special needs and hard-to-place animals. Through its Mobile Adoption Program, it brings animals in need of homes to community events throughout the Tri-State area. Recently Animal Haven opened an adoption center at Biscuits & Bath on East 44th Street in Manhattan.

Also in attendance will be dogs and cats from some of the other animal rescue groups and shelters that make up the Mayor's Alliance for NYC s Animals, including the ASPCA, the CACC, A Cause for Paws, Bobbi & the Strays, For Our Friends, Loving Touch, Pet Adoption League, SAVE, Small Paws, and many more groups.

Some of these very special little New Yorkers will include:

•	Completely black dogs and cats, specially selected to match the wardrobe of the most fashionable New Yorker!
•	Feline New Yorkers of every stripe! (Orange, grey, and even some tabbies!)
•	A large and varied selection of loving and peaceable St. Francis Terriers (a.k.a. pit bulls)!
•	Pure breeds, mystery breeds, and a few very special little New Yorkers with no breeding whatsoever!

Planned Activities:

•	The Urban Park Rangers will be on hand with loads of information including how to enjoy the many dog runs in the city parks to fun facts about urban wildlife!
•	A strolling Dixieland band!
•	The Center for Animal Care and Control will be on hand to microchip your current dog(s) to help him or her get home safe.
•	Come Ask the Veterinarian, Ask the Groomer, and Ask the Trainer — get answers to all those questions you wanted to ask!
•	Consult a pet psychic and animal spirit guide. Bring your current dog and discover their hidden thought — is she lonely? Does he want a new brother or sister? Is she a closet cat lover? Or use the latest spirit techniques to find your perfectly compatible new best friend.

Come Adopt a Little New Yorker Today — or two!

The Mayor's Alliance for New York City's Animals, Inc., is a coalition of over 40 animal rescue groups and shelters working with the City of New York to find a great home for every cat and dog in NYC who needs one. This is the second in a series of adoption events to be held throughout the City this summer and fall 2003, and will be followed by events in Queens Forest Park (September 13), Brooklyn's Prospect Park (October 11), and Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx in November. These events are the result of a groundbreaking partnership among the Mayor's Alliance, its affiliated organizations, and the City of New York.
