Feral cats in Ozone Park, Queens, will stay warm this winter thanks to one of the brand new shelters raffled at the Feral Cat Caretakers Annual Summer Soiree on August 18. Photo by Linda Bryant NYCFCI and ASPCA Celebrate Feral Cat Caretakers The NYC Feral Cat Initiative (NYCFCI) and the ASPCA teamed up to host the Feral Cat Caretakers Annual Summer Soiree on Wednesday, August 18, at the ASPCA's midtown location. This special evening of fun included dinner, networking, a slide show about NYC feral cat organizations and individual trappers, and a raffle of 17 feral cat winter shelters with straw insulation. The invitation-only event was our way of acknowledging New York City's busiest TNR trappers, and provided an opportunity for them to meet one another in a relaxed, festive setting. One of the evening's highlights: Patrick Kwan, New York State Director, Humane Society of the United States, presented Mike Phillips, LVT, of Urban Cat League, with the Humane Society Veterinary Medical Association's (HSVMA) "Best Friend to Feral Cats" award.
