NYCFCI & ASPCA Co-host Feral Cat Winter Shelter-Building Workshop & Sale

In observance of National Feral Cat Day (October 16) and New York Week for the Animals (October 10–18), the NYCFCI and the ASPCA co-sponsored a Feral Cat Winter Shelter-Building Workshop, Demonstration & Sale in South Ozone Park, Queens. Reinier Samsingh, a protégée of shelter-building expert Ashot Karamian, provided instruction to a dozen feral cat colony caretakers from all five NYC boroughs and Long Island.

Some attendees at the October 17 workshop actually built their own shelters, while others simply observed the demonstration and purchased ready-made shelters at a discounted price. Forty shelters were purchased, and straw was provided with each shelter.

As icing on the cake, the Mayor's Alliance for NYC's Animals arranged to deliver 25 shelters to their destinations on its Wheels of Hope Transport Vans!
