This year, Mayor's
Alliance Participating Organizations (APOs) had the opportunity
to expand their knowledge and improve skills in a wide range of
areas — from preventing the spread of disease in the shelter
and preparing for disasters to using the Internet and other media
to promote adoptions and designing more effective adoption agreements.
These and other topics were the focus of Mayor's Alliance Strength
Trainings — monthly training sessions created specifically
for APOs to help them work more efficiently and effectively.
In 2009, our Strength Training program will continue
to offer specialized informational sessions and skill-building workshops
to help Alliance organizations improve their capabilities —
individually and collectively — and increase their organization's
ability to succeed.
Included in the 2009 lineup are workshops and meetings
to broaden and sharpen skills in such areas as how to use the power
of the media to promote your messages; how to promote more focused
and productive meetings; how to achieve more meaningful evaluations
of animals using the SAFER technique; how to prevent the spread
of disease in a non-shelter environment; how to manage compassion
fatigue; and more.
APOs will receive invitations by e-mail to each
of the scheduled 2009 sessions. Please be on the lookout for your
invitation to the January Strength Training coming your way soon.
