Raising money to help homeless animals is becoming
quite a trend in New York City, and we want to acknowledge those
caring individuals whose recent efforts raised much-needed funds
for the Mayor's Alliance efforts to save lives.
Rational Animal
Rational
Animal President Susan Brandt presented checks to the ten Mayor's
Alliance Participating Organizations (APOs) designated by Rational
Animal as beneficiaries of its October 6 Gimme
Shelter Rock & Rescue NYC benefit concert in New York City.
The presentation ceremony/party took place on Saturday, November
8. Susan and Rational Animal volunteers were on hand, as were Mayor's
Alliance President Jane Hoffman and representatives of the ten recipient
rescue organizations. Donated beds and food for dogs and cats were
also presented to the groups.

New York Tails
Magazine publisher Diane West, whose New
York Tails magazine has been a long-time supporter of the
Mayor's Alliance, donated a portion of the magazine's 2008 subscription
proceeds to the Alliance. Diane presented a ceremonial check to
the Alliance at this year's Village Halloween Parade just moments
before the celebrated animal float bearing costumed celebrants,
including the Maddie's Fund mascot, set out on the parade route.
Jules Shear
Singer/songwriter Jules
Shear, who created and hosted the first season of MTV Unplugged,
donated part of the proceeds from his 2008 appearances at The Cutting
Room in New York City to the Mayor's Alliance. Jules' recently released
CD More on Funzalo Records features Jules and his rescue
Beagle Cosimo on its cover.

Sales of custom-painted figurines
— some created by celebrities, such as this piece
by Seth Rogan — benefit the Picasso Veterinary
Fund. |

Osaka Popstar Devil Dog
The Osaka
Popstar Devil Dog Art Show, held to rave reviews on October
31 at The Showroom Gallery in New York City, donated a portion of
its proceeds to the Picasso
Veterinary Fund of the Mayor's Alliance. The online
gallery is still open and many incredible pieces are still available
through the holidays and into the new year. The custom-painted figurines
make excellent gifts.
The Mayor's Alliance wishes to thank these donors,
and all the caring individuals and businesses that so generously
supported our work to save lives in 2008!
