One of the summer's highlights
was the Mayor's Alliance / Maddie's Pet Rescue Project's
sponsorship of the Brooklyn Cyclones' Bark
in the Park night on August 12.

Out of the Cage!
Summer 2008 - Volume 5: Issue 2
Welcome to our summers' end issue of Out of the
Cage! We're delighted that it has indeed been a busy season
— from Broadway to baseball, fashion-fundraising
to feral cats — and our efforts to transform New York City
into a no-kill community are gaining new supporters and creating
new relationships as we move ahead.
In this issue you'll read about some of the summers'
exciting adoption events and our new free spay/neuter
program for cats, funded by the PETCO Foundation. You'll read
about some of the cats and dogs whose lives were saved thanks to
the Picasso Veterinary Fund, and the organizations
like Broadway Barks and Pet
Fashion Week NYC, whose financial support is fueling the fund.
You'll read about new training opportunities
in the coming weeks for Alliance members, about an important new
resource for shelter veterinary personnel
from Maddie's Fund, and about our new NYC Feral
Cat Initiative web site and e-newsletter, which we proudly launched
this summer.
We hope you'll join us next month at our all-important
Adopt-A-Cat event at Madison Square
Garden on the weekend of October 18–19. This is one of our
most important adoption events of the year, because it's where hundreds
of cats and kittens find new homes. We hope you'll plan to attend,
and bring everyone you know who is even thinking about adopting
a cat. There are so many cats and kittens who need homes, and I
firmly believe that there are just as many homes that would benefit
from having a cat or kitten!
Please enjoy this issue of Out of the Cage!
As always, if you have comments or questions about the newsletter,
please e-mail me at info@animalalliancenyc.org.
Best wishes,
