On the weekend of August 23–24, Pet
Fashion Week NY, a valued supporter of the Mayor's Alliance,
held its annual trade show and charity benefit at the Metropolitan
Pavilion in Manhattan. The Mayor's Alliance had the privilege of
hosting a booth adorned with photos of Picasso
Veterinary Fund animals and other rescued animals that gave
event-goers and vendors the opportunity to stop by and learn more
about the Alliance and its efforts to save lives in New York City.
This year's Pet Fashion Week NY theme was ECOuture,
combining environmental responsibility with fashion and fundraising
in an effort to encourage eco-friendly business decisions and reward
companies for their charitable efforts. Charitable efforts are definitely
a big part of Pet Fashion Week NY's design. Between cash donations
from the show's attendees and vendors, proceeds from the charity
fundraiser, donations made through the Pet
Fashion Week NY website, and product donations made by many
of the companies that participated in this year's Pet Fashion Week
NY, the Mayor's Alliance received more than $45,000 in product and
cash donations from the event!

The Mayor's Alliance will use the cash donations
to fuel its Picasso Veterinary Fund to pay for medial care for sick
and injured dogs and cats from NYC's Animal Care & Control shelters.
Product donations, which include pet clothing, bedding, and accessories,
are being distributed to Alliance participating shelters and rescue
groups to be used either directly for the animals in their care
or for their fundraising efforts.
We'd like to acknowledge the 50-plus companies that
donated products to the Mayor's Alliance — among them, Dog
Chewz NYC, Wooflink, Beanies & Belvedere, Pet Quenchers, My
Pet ID Collar, Manfred of Sweden, The Powder Group, A Pet's World,
FuzzyNation, Wagatha's Extraordinary Biscuits for Dogs, Red Dog
House, Odorzout, The Puppy Hugger, Lani, Royal Dogs Gallery, The
Haute Hound, Wool and Kashmir Couture, and Herban Essentials.
We are proud and honored that Pet Fashion Week NY
has chosen the Mayor's Alliance as its charity of choice, and we
extend our deepest appreciation to Pet Fashion Week NY's Alexa Cach
and Mario DiFante, Partners and Executive Directors, and the entire
PFW team for their strong support and ongoing concern for New York
City's homeless animals.
