On Tuesday, February 27, 2007, the 13th annual Spay
Day USA will shine a national spotlight on spay/neuter —
one of the most important solutions to pet overpopulation.
Spay Day USA activities around the country allow
concerned community members, such as veterinarians, animal welfare
professionals and animal owner/guardians, to join forces to spay
or neuter as many animals as possible. It's also an opportunity
to educate the public about the importance of spay/neuter and to
raise funds for spay/neuter programs in the community.
According to the Humane Society of the United States
(HSUS), which manages Spay Day USA, event participants have spayed
or neutered an estimated 1,366,000 companion animals and feral cats
since Spay Day USA's inception in 1995.
How Can You Participate in Spay Day USA 2007?
HSUS suggests that you can organize or volunteer
at a Spay Day USA event in your community, or you can simply sponsor
the spay or neuter of at least one companion animal or feral cat.
