Broadway Supports NYC's Homeless Animals

Adoptable Little New Yorkers Join Broadway Stars on July 8 at BROADWAY BARKS 8!

Caption

Some of New York's cutest adoptable animals will be joining some of Broadway's brightest stars at the eighth annual BROADWAY BARKS! adoption event and fundraiser in Shubert Alley on Saturday, July 8, from 3:30–6:30 p.m. Co-hosts Bernadette Peters and Mary Tyler Moore, who founded BROADWAY BARKS! in 1999, will once again lead off the extravaganza, which will bring adoptable dogs and cats from many of NYC's rescue groups and shelters together with Broadway stars and an adoring public. The ASPCA is the lead sponsor of this year's BROADWAY BARKS!

BROADWAY BARKS! has become a favorite tradition among many animal-loving New Yorkers, and a treat for tourists as well. The event garners publicity for the plight of thousands of NYC's animals in need of homes, and provides the shelters and rescue groups who bring animals to the event an opportunity to find their perfect matches.

Taking its cue from past successful BROADWAY BARKS! events, this year's extravaganza on Saturday, July 8, will bring adoptable animals and Broadway stars together on stage to create awareness and new homes for some of NYC's cuddliest.

Additionally, funds raised through sponsorships and the sale of celebrity merchandise is donated to shelters and rescue groups (many of which are members of the Mayor's Alliance for NYC's Animals) and to the Picasso Veterinary Fund, which is administered by the Mayor's Alliance.

BROADWAY BARKS! and Picasso Veterinary Fund founders Bernadette Peters and Mary Tyler Moore, with support from Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, have made BROADWAY BARKS! an enduring New York tradition. So come out on Saturday, July 8, to Broadway's Shubert Alley (beside the Shubert Theatre between 44th and 45th Streets) for a memorable afternoon in support of some very special furry Little New Yorkers!

BROADWAY BARKS! is a major supporter of the Picasso Veterinary Fund, which pays for extraordinary life-saving medical treatment for cats and dogs who come in to NYC's Animal Care & Control shelters in need of special medical care. Following treatment, the animals are transferred to no-kill shelters and rescue groups — members of the Mayor's Alliance for NYC's Animals — where they will be cared for until permanent homes are found.
