Some of New York's most glamorous dog enthusiasts turned out in force for one of the season's hottest tickets — the Jeep® Yappy Hour Event to benefit the Mayor's Alliance for NYC's Animals, on Wednesday evening, November 30. The high-profile fundraiser, created by Animal Fair Magazine's founder, Wendy Diamond, drew a festive and enthusiastic crowd at the Mark Garrison Salon on fashionable East 60th Street in Manhattan.

Many of the guests arrived with their pampered pooches in tow, mixing and mingling with other guests, both human and canine, while enjoying cocktails and hors d'oeuvres. Doggie hors d'oeuvres also were served, and each guest left with a take-home doggie bag.

For the party-goers who didn't bring a canine companion, adoptable dogs from area shelters and rescue groups — members of the Mayor's Alliance — were on hand to give potential adopters a chance to meet them. Among the rescue organizations represented were Glen Wild Rescue, Humane Society of New York, Miss Rumples' Orphanage, Long Island Bulldog Rescue, and NYC's Animal Care & Control.

Sara, one of the adoptable dogs who attended the Jeep Yappy Hour Event, is currently living with an AC&C foster family. Sara is an 8 1/2-year-old Shepherd mix who, at 60 pounds, is a big mush who will steal your heart. If you're interested in adopting Sara, please contact jvanbrunt@nycacc.org or rcollins@nycacc.org.

The Jeep® Yappy Hour Event was featured on Good Morning America on Monday, December 5.

The Mayor's Alliance for NYC's Animals expressed appreciation to Ms. Diamond and Animal Fair Magazine, Mark Garrison for providing an ideal space for the event, and event sponsors Jeep, Bissel, Cesar, Gray Goose Vodka, and Dog House Wines.

All proceeds from the Jeep® Yappy Hour Event were donated to the Picasso Veterinary Fund of the Mayor's Alliance. This is a special and vital fund that pays for extraordinary medical treatment for sick and injured AC&C animals taken in by other member organizations for placement into permanent loving homes.
