Kitten Scores Leg Surgery and a New Home
|
Fran and Scott Copello made
a forever commitment to their foster kitten Flynn —
and they're all smiles! |
|
Fran and Scott hadn't planned to adopt Flynn.
But when Fran broke the news to her husband that
the sweet kitten who they had been fostering was ready to be put
up for adoption, he had a change of heart.
"He was the one who said, 'No pets in NY,'
but this little kitten has managed to steal his heart," Fran
says.
Four-month-old Flynn arrived at the AC&C Manhattan
shelter with a fractured leg that required surgery to repair. He
also was suffering from an upper respiratory infection (URI). But
his prognosis was good. The Mayor's Alliance agreed to pay for Flynn's
surgery using the Picasso Veterinary
Fund.
The surgery was performed at Fifth Avenue Veterinary
Specialists, and Flynn was taken in as a foster kitten by Fran and
Scott. "He loves to cuddle and play," they reported while
Flynn recuperated. "He likes to sleep with us and interacts
a lot."
Fran and Scott agreed to continue to foster Flynn
through his next milestone — neuter surgery at Gramercy Park Animal Hospital. Following the surgery, Flynn came home with
the couple and recovered quickly in their loving care. It was then
that they decided to adopt him. His leg is healing well, and, according
to Fran, Flynn continues to grow healthy and happy.
Of course, not all foster families end up adopting
their charges. But for Fran and Scott, falling in love with little
Flynn was inevitable. And they all are the better for it.
