Event in NYC
|
Meet Ethyl at the Long Island
Bulldog Rescue table at AKC Responsible Dog Ownership
Day. She is challenging someone to adopt her! |
|
On Saturday, September 17, four Alliance Participating
Organizations and members of the New
York Breed Rescue Network (a subgroup of the Mayor's Alliance)
will participate in the AKC Responsible Dog Ownership Day.
Waggytail
Rescue (Chihuahuas, etc.), Long
Island Bulldog Rescue, French
Bulldog Connection Rescue, and Adopt
A Boxer Rescue will be on hand with adoptable dogs and information
about their breeds.
Also featured will be a Mayor's Alliance low-cost
microchipping clinic ($25), information about many breeds, obedience
and agility demonstrations…health, grooming, and safety demonstrations,
and plenty more. Come meet the breeds, learn about responsible dog
ownership, and enjoy activities for the kids.
The event, a project of the American Kennel Club,
will run from 11:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m., in Madison Square Park,
23rd Street and Fifth Avenue, Manhattan.
For more information, visit the AKC
web site.
The New York Breed Rescue Network (NYBRN) is
a sub-coalition of groups within the Mayor's Alliance who have chosen
to concentrate on the placement of purebred (or nearly pure) dogs
and cats. These groups view puppy mills, pet shops, and irresponsible
breeders as the problem, and believe that by combining efforts toward
a common goal, they will make a real difference. For a list of NYBRN
member groups and links to their web sites, click
