The Alliance at Work
Special Care for AC&C
Thanks to the $220,000 grant the Alliance awarded
to AC&C
for 2005 and the New Hope staff positions it funded, the coordinated
efforts are getting more animals out to rescue groups. In the first
half of this year, 3,640 animals were transferred out of AC&C
to rescue organizations. The Mayor's Alliance transport van program
has helped to facilitate more than 700 of these transfers this year.
In 2005 alone, the Picasso
Veterinary Fund of the Mayor's Alliance has helped pay for extraordinary
medical treatment for scores of AC&C animals. In the past, most
of these animals would have been euthanized because funds were not
available to cover their necessary medical costs. Thanks to the
fund, these animals received a second chance. Most were taken in
by other Alliance
Participating Organizations for placement into permanent homes.
And the Mayor's Alliance recently purchased an additional
30 dog beds for the AC&C Manhattan shelter.
To find out how you can help the animals at
AC&C, please contact the Mayor's Alliance at info@AnimalAllianceNYC.org.
