Message from the President
Picasso Veterinary Fund Gets a New Look
by Jane Hoffman, President, Mayor's Alliance for
NYC's Animals
|
The new Picasso
Veterinary Fund logo, reminiscent of a Picasso painting,
reflects the fund's assistance to dogs and cats. |
|
This issue of Out of the Cage! features
quite a few cats and dogs who got second chances thanks to the Picasso
Veterinary Fund.
In any given month the Picasso Veterinary Fund pays
out thousands of dollars to cover the costs of life-saving medical
treatment for animals transferred from Animal Care & Control
to other Alliance
Participating Organizations. The money used to pay for this
medical care doesn't come from grants or foundation support; instead,
we rely exclusively upon the generous
support of private individuals and businesses to finance the
fund.
To more accurately reflect the fund's identity as
a medical resource for dogs and cats, we've redesigned its logo
to include — you guessed it — a dog and cat! The logo,
created by graphic designer Joe Kleinberg for Rational
Animal, will make its first public appearance on men's and women's
tee-shirts that we'll be offering (for a donation) at BROADWAY BARKS! on July 30. In the future, we hope to make the tee-shirts,
and other Picasso Veterinary Fund-branded merchandise, available
for purchase on the Mayor's Alliance web site. All sales will go
to support the Picasso Veterinary Fund.
Of course, the memorable face of Picasso, the amazing
dog with the beautifully twisted muzzle in whose honor the Picasso
Veterinary Fund was founded, will remain an important part of the
fund's identity. The new logo is a tribute to Picasso, and to the
many dogs and cats whose lives have been saved as a result of Picasso's
legacy.
We hope you'll join us in supporting this fund,
and the cats and dogs whose lives it saves each month. And we hope
you'll make a convenient on-line donation
that will help us continue to provide special little New Yorkers
with the medical care they need to go on to find the happy lives
they deserve. Remember, whether you donate $10 or $100 (or more!),
you're making a big difference for the animals!
And check out the I
Love My Dog contest article featured in this issue of Out
of the Cage! — for one more way you can support the Picasso
Veterinary Fund.
We hope you enjoy this issue of Out of the Cage!

| About Maddie's Fund
Maddie's Fund, The
Pet Rescue Foundation (www.maddiesfund.org),
is a family foundation funded by PeopleSoft Founder Dave Duffield,
and his wife, Cheryl, to help create a no-kill nation. The
first step is to help develop programs that guarantee loving
homes for all healthy shelter dogs and cats throughout the
country. The next step will be to save the sick and injured
pets in animal shelters nationwide. Maddie's Fund is named
after the family's beloved Miniature Schnauzer who passed
away in 1997.
