Helping with Care at Animal Care & Control
|
Thanks to the Picasso Veterinary
Fund, animals that previously might have been euthanized
— like Sam,
shown above — are now receiving the medical care
they need to survive and find permanent new homes. |

The Mayor's Alliance has awarded a $220,000
grant to AC&C to help fund four new positions at AC&C and
the purchase of a new transport van. This grant to AC&C was
made possible by the ASPCA's $1 million grant awarded to the
Mayor's Alliance for 2005.
Additionally, since July 2004, the Picasso
Veterinary Fund and other medical grants helped pay for medical
treatment for 314 animals. The Picasso Veterinary Fund is a special
fund administered by the Mayor's Alliance that helps pay for medical
treatment for animals transferred from AC&C to other APOs.
The Mayor's Alliance has also purchased a total
of 156 new dog beds for the AC&C shelters.
In April, the Alliance provided AC&C with new
"Adopt Me" vests sporting the Maddie's
Fund logo.
| About Maddie's Fund
Maddie's Fund, The
Pet Rescue Foundation (www.maddiesfund.org),
is a family foundation funded by PeopleSoft Founder Dave Duffield,
and his wife, Cheryl, to help create a no-kill nation. The
first step is to help develop programs that guarantee loving
homes for all healthy shelter dogs and cats throughout the
country. The next step will be to save the sick and injured
pets in animal shelters nationwide. Maddie's Fund is named
after the family's beloved Miniature Schnauzer who passed
away in 1997.
