Message from the President
Making Adoptions Happen!
by Jane Hoffman, President, Mayor's Alliance for
NYC's Animals
|
Mayor's Alliance Pet Adoption Festivals
bring animals to the people. |
|
The past few weeks have been a busy time for the
Mayor's Alliance. We staged our first adoption
events of the season…moved ahead in developing advertising
campaigns to promote shelter and rescue adoptions…and distributed
the first round of checks to Alliance
Participating Organizations (APOs) whose adoption numbers qualified
them for Maddie's Fund incentive payments in the first quarter of
2005.
We're also working to develop and strengthen relationships
with affiliated organizations whose missions are consistent with
that of the Mayor's Alliance. You've read about some of these organizations
in past issues of Out of the Cage!,
and this month you have the opportunity to read about Angel's
Gate, the amazing animal hospice on Long Island.
You'll also read about K9Kastle,
an APO that focuses its energies on special needs animals. And you'll
hear from veterinarian Dr. Cary Nulton and
trainer Stacy Alldredge on topics that
we hope will interest you.
Your continued interest in the activities of the
Mayor's Alliance and its 85
participating shelters and rescue groups is important to us,
as is your support of our programs to increase adoptions and decrease
euthanasias in NYC. We welcome your comments and questions, as well
as your involvement in our mission, through your financial or volunteer
support.
Please feel free to contact us at info@AnimalAllianceNYC.org.

| About Maddie's Fund
Maddie's Fund, The
Pet Rescue Foundation (www.maddiesfund.org),
is a family foundation funded by PeopleSoft Founder Dave Duffield,
and his wife, Cheryl, to help create a no-kill nation. The
first step is to help develop programs that guarantee loving
homes for all healthy shelter dogs and cats throughout the
country. The next step will be to save the sick and injured
pets in animal shelters nationwide. Maddie's Fund is named
after the family's beloved Miniature Schnauzer who passed
away in 1997.
