Feral Cat Experts Gather at National Feral Cat Summit in San Francisco

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) – August 26, 2006 – The 3rd annual National Feral Cat Summit is scheduled to take place on Sat. Sept. 9th at the South San Francisco Conference Center. Michael Mountain, President of Best Friends Animal Society will present the Keynote Address.

The event is a gathering of the top Feral Cat Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) experts from around the country who will present training workshops to animal shelter and animal care and control staff and volunteers. TNR is a non-lethal method of controlling feral cat populations, so that kittens are not born on the street and brought into already over-crowded shelters.

"Attendees have registered from 25 states and 3 different countries," said event producer Valerie Sicignano. "We are proud to hold the summit in San Francisco, one of the country's most humane communities."

Workshops at the summit include "Advanced Feral Cat Colony Care," "Funding TNR," "How to Perform a Mass Trapping (Film & Workshop)" and Feral Cats, TNR & the Law," among others. Speakers include Paul Jolly, the PETCO Foundation, Esther Mechler, SPAY USA, Bryan Kortis, Neighborhood Cats, Sandra Monterose and Debora Bresch, the ASPCA, Nancy Peterson, The Humane Society of the United States and Valerie Sicignano, In Defense of Animals and Neighborhood Cats.

The summit produced by Neighborhood Cats and is Sponsored by Best Friends Animal Society, The Humane Society of the United States, the ASPCA, SPAY USA, the Mayor's Alliance for NYC's Animals, the San Francisco SPCA, the East Bay SPCA, PetSmart Charities and the PETCO Foundation.
