Social Networking Broadens Support for Mayor's Alliance Programs

by Krista Menzel, Mayor's Alliance for NYC's Animals

If you use any of the many online social networking services — Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, MySpace, Digg, Delicious, Blogger, StumbledUpon, LinkedIn, etc. — you can easily spread the word about the Mayor's Alliance for NYC's Animals and its success in saving lives throughout New York City. Read on as Mayor's Alliance Web Coordinator Krista Menzel describes how.

Facebook

Last year, the Mayor's Alliance created Facebook Pages and Causes as tools to build awareness and raise funds for the Mayor's Alliance and its programs, including the Picasso Veterinary Fund and the New York City Feral Cat Initiative. Response to our Facebook presence has been wonderful so far, with new Fans and Supporters joining every day. Our friends receive occasional News Feed updates about Mayor's Alliance events, news, programs, animals for adoption, volunteer opportunities, and fundraising campaigns, as well as other information of interest to NYC pet lovers. We also encourage all of our Facebook Fans and Supporters to take advantage of the AddThis "Share" button at the top of each page of the Mayor's Alliance website to post articles, news, and event announcements to their own Facebook profiles.
