ASPCA® Mission: Orange™ Launches New Partnerships for Change
The ASPCA is on a mission.
The 141-year-old New York City-based animal welfare organization wants to make the nation a more humane place for animals. It envisions a country where animals are treated compassionately. Respectfully. And where animals are not killed because of a lack of resources or awareness.
To turn that vision into reality, the ASPCA last month launched ASPCA® Mission: Orange™, a nationwide initiative that has begun in target communities across the U.S., including Austin (TX), Gulfport-Biloxi (MS), Philadelphia (PA), and Tampa (FL). The ASPCA is collaborating with partner organizations in each of these communities to develop programs and resources that will help each community reach its goals, which, although unique to each community, include shared goals of improving save rates, preventing animal cruelty and creating model humane communities.
The ASPCA has made a three-year commitment to each of these communities, a commitment that includes providing training, programmatic resources and a financial pledge of $200,000 per year for each community. Later this year, the ASPCA will begin assessing other potential partner communities for 2008. In the meantime, the ASPCA will continue to put the principles behind ASPCA® Mission: Orange™ to work in New York City, where it is an important founding member and major supporter of the Mayor's Alliance for NYC's Animals and its goal of transforming New York City into a no-kill community.
