The Mayor's Alliance for NYC's Animals is working with 150+ shelters and rescue groups and Animal Care & Control of NYC (AC&C) to make NYC a "no-kill" community. Before the Mayor's Alliance was formed, 74% of the 35,000+ animals entering AC&C were euthanized, many for lack of space. Today, over 20,000 more dogs and cats are saved in NYC each year and the euthanasia rate is 32.5% of intake. From 2003 through 2010, the lives of 136,587 dogs and cats have been saved. With your help, we are on track to achieve our "no-kill" goal by 2015.
