Mayor's
Alliance for NYC's Animals Partners with the Doris Day Animal Foundation
to Promote National Spay Day USA
This two-month campaign offers low-cost spay/neuter
certificates and a super sports raffle with the gooooooooooooal!
of spaying and neutering dozens of companion animals!
Spay or neuter your dog or cat for a suggested donation
of only $10 and you'll have a chance to win two tickets to a MetroStars
soccer game!
Last year, through the generosity of New York City's
veterinary community, over 80 surgeries were performed as a part
of Spay Day USA. This year, our goal is 150 surgeries.
Pet overpopulation forces our country's shelters
to kill millions of cats and dogs each year, at a cost of over a
billion tax dollars. Spay/neuter is a proven solution to this crisis.
This year marks the tenth annual Spay Day USA, which is co-sponsored
nationally by the Doris
Day Animal Foundation, PetSmart
Charities, and Natural
Life Pet Products. Since Spay Day's inception in 1995, participants
have altered over 1,000,000 animals.

How It Works
To Obtain a Certificate
Call (718) 638-9857 or e-mail spaydaynyc2004@earthlink.net
and give your name, address, and phone number. A Mayor's Alliance
volunteer will be in touch via phone or e-mail. Every effort will
be made to pair you with a veterinarian in your neighborhood.
The suggested donation for a certificate is only
$10. Payment can be by check or money order. If you would like to
pay by credit card, you will be given a link to Network for Good,
through which you can make your donation.
Once your donation is received, you will be mailed
a numbered certificate along with the contact information for the
veterinarian who has donated the surgery. It is your responsibility
to contact the vet's office and make an appointment for your pet's
surgery prior to April 30, 2004. In most cases, fees for the office
visit have also been waived. However, you are responsible for any
additional services you may request, such as vaccinations.
After you have redeemed your certificate with the
veterinarian, your name will be entered into a raffle drawing, the
winning prize being two tickets to a MetroStars game during the
2004 season. The drawing will take place on May 14, 2004. We hope
to distribute between 100 and 150 certificates — so your chances
of winning are pretty good!
For additional information, please call (718) 638-9857
or e-mail spaydaynyc2004@earthlink.net.
To Donate a Certificate
Veterinarians from the five boroughs of New York
who wish to donate one or more free surgeries can request a copy
of the Spay Day USA Participation agreement. The Agreement explains
the terms of your donation and gives you the opportunity to specify
any limitations. Please call (718) 638-9857 or e-mail spaydaynyc2004@earthlink.net
and give your name or practice name, address, and phone number.
A Mayor's Alliance volunteer will send you a copy of the Spay Day
USA Participation Agreement. Please complete the form and mail,
e-mail, or fax back to the Mayor's Alliance by March 31, 2004.
In appreciation for your tax-deductible donation,
your name and/or practice name will be listed on the Mayor's Alliance
web site. In addition, you'll be contributing fundamentally to the
solution to the tragedy of pet overpopulation in the City.
