Taste the fine French and Californian wines of Les Compagnons and help four worthy animal causes! A percentage of every bottle purchased goes directly to one of four local nonprofits dedicated to improving the lives of animals and pet lovers in need: NY SAVE, Gotham City Kitties, Stray from the Heart, and The Toby Project. During the wine tasting, members of each of these charities will be present in order to explain the missions and goals of their charities. Event is free.

New Rochelle Humane Society: Adult Volunteer Orientation

Do you love animals and want to volunteer? To become an adult volunteer (18 years and older), simply fill out our adult volunteer form and send it to the shelter. You will then need to attend a volunteer orientation. The orientation is about one-and-a-half hours long and will provide you with an introduction to our volunteer program. A Green Dot training class for dog-walking volunteers is scheduled for a later date.

Neighborhood Cats / NYC Feral Cat Initiative: "Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR): How to Manage a Feral Cat Colony" Workshop

Come learn how to care for the feral and stray cats in your community and make use of the many resources now available to assist you. All steps in setting up a managed colony will be covered, including establishing good community relations, feeding, building and placing shelters, arranging vet care, finding recovery space, safely handling feral cats, and trapping (with an emphasis on conducting a mass-trapping of an entire feral colony at once). All workshop attendees will become TNR certified, and NYC residents will gain access to no-cost spay/neuter and trap rental. Join the 2,800+ caretakers trained to date! There is no fee to attend this class, but advance registration is required.

Adoptapalooza is back! This family event features dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens for adoption on North Shore Animal League America mobile adoption units from Animal Care & Control of NYC (AC&C), Animal Haven, Sean Casey Animal Rescue, and the Picasso Veterinary Fund of the Mayor's Alliance. Plus, dogs from several different pure breed dog rescue groups will also be available for adoption. This free public event will also feature a cool raffle drawing, pet photographer, Ask-the-Vet, Ask-the-Trainer, and other fun activities for all family members — two- and four-legged alike!

Anjellicle Cats Rescue presents Catberet, a special fundraising cabaret to celebrate the feline qualities of life and feature some of ACR's adoptable cats as represented by the performers. Performances will encompass singing, comedy acts, monologues, and more. Tickets are $20, with a $15 food/drink minimum. Ninety percent of ticket sales will go to ACR to support its efforts in rescuing New York City's many homeless and abandoned cats and kittens.

Guests will enjoy a show featuring Howard Feller, Angry Bob, Matt Wayne, Sheba Masonm, and Mike Motz. Headlining the evening will be Vic Henley. The evening will be hosted by Rich Carucci. Adopt-A-Dog: 23rd Annual "Puttin' on the Dog" Show and Festival

Each year more than 5,000 people attend this popular family event. Throughout the day, there will be a dog show with seventeen categories, such as Biggest Lap Dog, K-9 Krooners, A Pooch Who Can Smooch, and Clever K-9 Tricks to enter your dog in. All contestants receive a ribbon. This family venue is a crowd-pleaser, with a special guest appearance by Rescue Ink, dogs and cats for adoption, police demonstrations, celebrity judges, great food, clowns, children's play area, silent auction, grab bags, lots of vendors, and much, much more. Admission is $10 for adults; $5 for seniors and children over 5; children under 5 are free.

Founded by long-time animal activists Jasmin Singer and Mariann Sullivan, Our Hen House serves as a central clearinghouse for ideas and opportunities to create positive change for animals ranging from grassroots activism to advocacy through the arts. Hosted by Central Park PAWS, a program of the Central Park Conservancy, the Fair celebrates the vibrant dog community in Central Park and promotes the responsible care and stewardship of Central Park for the enjoyment of all visitors — canine and human alike! This premier event features a "Best in Park" dog show, agility course, microchipping, entertainment, Canine Good Citizen testing, children's activities, story-telling, and much, much more. The Fair takes place at the Naumburg Bandshell – a highly visible and easily accessible area located mid-Park at 72nd Street, close to major landmarks and landscapes such as Bethesda Terrace, the Mall, and Rumsey Playfield. Dogs and families are invited to join the fun. Free and open to the public.
