Shubert Alley, West of Broadway, between 44th and
45th Streets, between Broadway and 8th Avenue, Manhattan
Mary Tyler Moore and Bernadette Peters will host
the tenth annual BROADWAY BARKS!, a star-studded dog and cat adopt-a-thon
benefiting New York City animal shelters and adoption agencies.
A galaxy of Broadway stars will join Moore and Peters in presenting
animals for adoption from New York City animal shelters and adoption
agencies, including A Cause for Paws, Adopt A Boxer Rescue, Animal
Haven, Anjellicle Cats Rescue, ASPCA, AC&C, BARC, Bide-A-Wee,
Bobbi and the Strays, City Critters, Humane Society of New York,
The Husky House, KittyKind, Long Island GreyHound Transfer, Loving
Touch, Metropolitan Maltese Rescue, Mid-Atlantic Great Dane Rescue
League, NYC Siamese Rescue, Pet-I-Care, P.L.U.T.O. Rescue of Richmond
County, Russell Refuge, Staten Island Council for Animal Welfare,
Stray from the Heart, Tigger Foundation, ARF, and SaveKitty Foundation.
Representatives from these organizations will be on hand to offer
educational information on spaying and neutering. BROADWAY BARKS
10 will also feature an auction of celebrity-autographed memorabilia.
Proceeds from the auction and other donations received during the
day will benefit the attending shelters and organizations. BROADWAY
BARKS 10 is produced by Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and sponsored
by the ASPCA and Pedigree, with additional sponsorship by The
New York Times.

Cats / NYC Feral Cat Initiative / ASPCA: "Trap-Neuter-Return:
How to Manage a Feral Cat Colony" Workshop

Come learn how to care for the feral and stray cats
in your community and make use of the many resources now available
to assist you. All steps in setting up a managed colony will be
covered, including establishing good community relations, feeding,
building and placing shelters, arranging vet care, finding recovery
space, safely handling feral cats, and trapping (with an emphasis
on conducting a mass-trapping of an entire feral colony at once).
All workshop attendees will become TNR certified, and NYC residents
will gain access to free spay/neuter and trap rental. Join the
1,500+ caretakers trained to date! A non-refundable $15 course fee
(waived for demonstrated financial need) and advance registration
are required.

Join us for a relaxing afternoon of TTouch on Long
Island! This gentle "no fear/no force" method has been
in existence for over 30 years. The easy-to-learn touch and movement
exercises help to balance animals — and humans — mentally,
physically, and emotionally, creating a happier, healthier, better-behaved
pet, improving awareness and the relationship/bond. TTouch helps
such challenges as: barking, biting, chewing, digging, jumping up,
leash-pulling, fear-based issues, grooming, anxiety, shyness, performance
issues, lack of focus, noise sensitivity, aging/arthritis, hip/mobility
issues, and more! Taught by Mindful Tails' Guild Certified TTouch
Practitioners/Instructors, the proceeds benefit the special-needs

The orientation is about an hour long and will provide an introduction
to our junior volunteer program. Parents do not need to be in attendance,

FIDO is hosting this adoption festival in honor
of their 10th anniversary. In addition to adoptable cats,
dogs, kittens, and puppies, this event features a steel drum
band, low-cost microchipping ($25, includes insertion and
registration) for dogs and cats, and Ask the Veterinarian,
Ask the Trainer, Ask the Groomer, and Ask The TTouch Practitioner
booths. Also, the Companion Animal Parasite Council (CAPC)
will have a van at the event where people can learn about
identifying and protecting their pets from parasites.

to answer questions; Canine Good Citizen (CGC) testing;

21st Annual "Puttin' On the Dog" Show and Festival

During the day, there will be a fun dog show with
seventeen classes of entries and celebrity judges. Past show categories
have included the Biggest Lap Dog, K-9 Krooners, A Pooch Who Can
Smooch, and Clever K-9 Tricks, among others. A new class this year
is Homely Hounds. MCs will be Bill Evans of ABC7 Eyewitness News,
Jeff Weber of WGCH (1490 AM), and Marylee and Storm N. Norman from
WEBE 108. WGCH will broadcast live from the field. Face painting,
clowns, a fire truck, auction, dog show and parade, great food,
Children's Corner, vendor booths, raffles and grab bags for all
ages, and dog photo portraits. Most importantly, adoptable dogs
and cats will be on hand to meet with prospective adoptive families.
Admission is $10 for adults; $5 for seniors and children over 5;
free for children 5 or younger.
