New York City Feral Cat Council (NYCFCC)
The New
York City Feral Cat Council (NYCFCC), operating within the Mayor's
Alliance, is a coalition of NYC animal groups working to humanely
reduce our feral cat population through the use of Trap-Neuter-Return
(TNR).
Feral cats, the semi-wild offspring of abandoned
domestic cats, live and reproduce in our streets, parks, and backyards
and number in at least the tens of thousands in New York City alone.
When unneutered and unmanaged, they contribute significantly to
overcrowding in our shelters and higher euthanasia rates. Through
TNR, the cats' living conditions are greatly improved and the population
is controlled. NYCFCC provides a forum for involved organizations
to share information and join together to promote TNR.
