New York Breed Rescue Network (NYBRN)

The New York Breed Rescue Network (NYBRN) is a sub-coalition within the Mayor's Alliance of groups who have chosen to concentrate on the placement of purebred (or nearly pure) dogs and cats. These groups view puppymills, petshops, and irresponsible breeders as the problem, and believe that by combining our efforts toward a common goal, they will make a real difference.

Join the NYBRN

The New York Breed Rescue Network (NYBRN) is actively recruiting new participants. Any cat or dog breed rescue group in the Mayor's Alliance is eligible to join. Through the sharing of ideas and resources, as well as joint initiatives, the breed rescue members of the Mayor's Alliance can effectively accomplish the goals of the Alliance. NYBRN participants cooperate through:

Sharing Ideas

Building effective organizations and board structures for long-term growth

Recruiting, training and retaining volunteers

Evaluation and rehabilitation of animals (particularly "special needs")

Establishing fundraising plans

Sharing Resources

Transport networks

Shelter liaison and support, particularly concerning AC&C

Adopter evaluations, including reference checks and home visits

Specialized volunteer capabilities, i.e., graphic and web designers, event planners, fundraising/public relations professionals, financial planners, etc.

Professionals: Behaviorists/trainers, veterinarians, accountants, etc.

Joint Initiatives

Attracting corporate sponsors

Enhancing awareness of breed rescue through public relations and marketing

Fundraising events (including participation in Mayor's Alliance events)

All NYBRN organizations must be members of the Mayor's Alliance for NYC's Animals. Click here for more information on becoming a Mayor's Alliance Participating Organization.
