2015 Annual Report

Leon and Valentina are just two of the thousands of animals the Alliance was able to help in 2015 with the support of our generous donors.

Letter From the President

This year, thanks to our Past Key Initiatives and our successful partnerships with 150+ Alliance Participating Organizations (APOs), we achieved an unprecedented 90% community-wide Live Release Rate for New York City's shelter animals. We succeeded in saving more than 9 out of every 10 lives at Animal Care Centers of NYC (ACC) in 2015, and we have saved more than 300,000 lives since 2003.

Today, New York City has been transformed into a markedly more humane community than when we began, thanks to YOU — our valued partners and supporters who dedicate time and resources to benefit NYC's animals.

Every day at the Mayor's Alliance for NYC's Animals brings new challenges. Whether we're working to move animals out of the City shelter and into placement via our Wheels of Hope program, training New Yorkers to perform Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) and care for community cats through our NYC Feral Cat Initiative, helping our community's most vulnerable pet owners keep their pets despite difficult circumstances via our Helping Pets and People in Crisis program, or preparing for our large-scale Adoptapalooza events, every day is different.

Here's a glimpse at two of the Little New Yorkers you've helped by supporting our life-saving programs:

You made sure the Wheels kept turning for little Leon, who got to take the biggest trip in all of his four weeks to his new foster family in Massachusetts.

Gregarious Valentina was transferred out of the NYC shelter and moved to a new adoptive family in central New York thanks to your support!

What remains steadfast is your support. Every time you make a gift to the Alliance, you allow us to say YES to one more NYC animal who needs the Alliance. More pets and people than ever need the critical resources and services of the Alliance. With your help, we can sustain the dramatic impact we have made in the lives of New York City's animals, and keep saying YES.

Thank you for your support this year, and for joining us in the fight to save NYC's animals.
